Chat with Friends in DOS using Netsend command

Guys seriously Iam not at all kidding. LOL

**this tutorial is for the users of Windows XP and all other previous versions microsoft has removed the service from its newer versions like Windows Vista, 7 and 8.

Yeah we can chat with our loved one on Dos without any messenger basically DOS has its own Messenger service . You have to type the name of the user if you are connected on LAN and to chat over the Internet type the IP address of your Friend.

For the Messenger you have to turn it ON.
Follow the steps given below:

  • Go to START Menu.
  • Click on RUN and type SERVICES.msc.
  • A dialog box will appear find the MESSENGER service in it and turn it ON.

Now open Command Prompt and type :

net send USER_NAME or IP_ADDRESS Message

For Example: if you want to send message to a user named bca1291 connected to your computer through LAN. Type

 net send bca1291 hi

**if you have a IP address of the user then you can type IP address in place of user_name
A dialog box will appear on the bca1291 showing your user name and “hi”.
